Rio de Janeiro
Paraty - Ilha Grande - Angra dos Reis
The Brazilian coast has almost 7,400 km of natural beauties and more than 2000 beaches. Amoung so many of nature's wonders, just west from Rio de Janeiro lies the Green Coast, where the mountainous banks of flowering trees plunge into a blue-green sea. The coastline here presents visitors with an ever-changing panorama of bays, islands, peaks, and waterfalls.
Also in this landscape, the harbor of Paraty, which dates back to seventeenth-century is famous for having both well-preserved historic center and the legendary beauty of the surrounding beaches.
Not far from here, ideal for lovers of beach adventures, is Ilha Grande, which is a vast island without vehicular traffic and with few settlements to disturb its natural splendor. Surprisingly, this paradise is easily accessible for those who are in São Paulo or Rio de Janeiro, taking 5h and 4h20 drives, respectively.

How to get to Paraty from Rio de Janeiro
Paraty is a 4 hour and 20 minutes drive from Rio de Janeiro. The driveway is in good conditions but you might have to face some traffic issues due to crossing several urban areas on the way, there are no tolls. The road to Paraty is very beautiful, especially going through Itaguaí. The best transfer options are renting a car or a private van (contact us for further info).

Paraty & Ilha Grande Weather
Cruising Area
The cruising starts in Paraty, and this area comprises the whole Ilha Grande Bay, including Paraty, Paraty Mirim, Ilha Grande and Angra dos Reis. The best part of the area is outside the island, which has the most amazing white-sand beaches but hardly to ground due to swells.
Seasons and Weather Conditions
Due to the mountainous geography and the vast rainforest canopy, weather conditions in nearby areas may vary significantly.
Tropical storms can happen mostly from November to June, but they normally only last a couple of hours. Summertime is the best period of the year for snorkeling and explore wild beaches. Winter time is the best season for sailing and regattas.
